Tanning Tips

Always use indoor tanning eyewear. You won't get raccoon eyes with all the different choices in eye protection. Anything that water can get thru, so can ultraviolet light.( cotton balls, towels, etc.) regular sunglasses Do Not block enough to protect you from damage. Night vision being blurred is one result from not wearing eye protection. At Alternative Tan we will request you purchase and show us your eyewear prior to each session. Having your own protects you from pink eye and other infection.
Shave before you tan, not after. Shaving removes the top layer of the skin. Use a moisturizer or an after-tan lotion to keep your skin fresh and tan vibrant. Avoid any baby oils as oils will clog pores. Removing make-up prior to your session allows even exposure.
Only specially formulated products for indoor tanning may be used. DO NOT use baby oils, outdoor lotion, or Off-brand tanning products, as they reflect the UV light, clog your pores and create a film on you and the tanning bed. and impair the tanning process. Selecting a professional indoor product will speed up melanin production in the hard to tan areas such as arms & legs.
Best results for tanning your face. Move the pillow down 4 inches or so. Also at times turn you head slightly from side to side depending on the contour of your face. For your neck, roll up the towel provided & put it under the nape of your neck to help keep the head lying back evenly.
You may want to change positions slightly while lying down for comfort and to improve circulation. To even out a tan under your arms, raise arms above your head for a portion of your session.
Our tanning equipment is sanitized & a clean towel is provided for each guest. Use the towel to cover unexposed areas that have not seen much sunlight, gradually exposing them. As well as any scars or tattoos . ( tattoos may fade with tanning, use sunscreen) (Try an airbrush session to cover scars)
Each individual's skin type varies. The staff at Alternative Tan will help you achieve the darkest tan possible in the shortest amount of time. While maintaining the highest levels of safety and comfort. After all, you are our best advertising, so every body matters.
RED IS NOT TAN
Skin will understand and react better when the tanning process is done in moderation. Tanning is not about the length of time in a unit, but the amount of time for your skin type. The Alternative Tan staff will guide you through the tanning process in moderation, giving you a tan schedule for your skin type needs, and a tanning product to speed up the production of melanin to achieve a vibrant tan without burning.
Using the correct product for your skin type will make those hard to tan areas, such as the LEGS AND ARMS, more even toned to the rest of your body.
